http://ok4wd.com/auto/tar-holloween-2011 here is the link to the new Tar Hallow Ride.

I know i will be signing up soon. had a great time last time and was alot alot of fun.

September 30 through October 2nd, we will be heading up to Hancock, NY for a family-friendly weekend of camping and casual trail riding on over 20 miles of trails located on privately owned land in beautiful upstate New York. This event will be open to 100 vehicles and will offer a variety of freshly cut trails built to challenge drivers of all skill levels. This is a great event for novice drivers with stock or lightly modified vehicles. There will be more trails for different difficulty levels ranging from stock/easy to extremely difficult.

Since the event is taking place on private property, the address will be emailed to customers one month prior to the event to help decrease the chance of land poaching. We thank you for understanding.
$125 for vehicle and driver • $10.00 for each passenger • $5.00 for children 12 and under
- Limited to the first 100 vehicles to register!
- Camping is primitive and you must take out what you bring in. Portable toilets will be available
- Open only to licensed and insured street legal 4WD vehicles.
- Vehicles must have front and rear recovery points. Stock vehicles are permitted, but be aware that it may be difficult to get through some trails.
- Bring your own recovery kit, first aid kit, fire extinguisher, tools, spare parts, etc. This is not a guided trail ride. If you break you will need to have parts, tools and/or a way out. If you need to get towed there may be a charge—so come prepared!
- There must be at least 2 vehicles in a group.
- There will be multiple people on the same trail so must be courteous and pull over and let others pass if you are traveling slower than them.

What are the trails like? Mud, rutted out dirt trails, rocks, combo of everything? Is it good crawling?

08-19-2011, 09:09 PM
90% twisting dirt trails that wind through the mnts, great for stock rigs. the hard trails will challenge and experiaced driver in a stock rig. Some of the best camping area i have been to

I wheeled the majority of the weekend in rear wheel drive since I didn't have a spare front shaft.

i emailed ok to see if there were any problems with the storm, this is jim's reply:

Hancock did get hit hard but the town is open for business and ready to go. Bill has been up there every weekend since the hurricane and the trails are cleared and many new ones have been cut. He said all the gas stations and businesses in town are back up and eager for our business. There is no way the trip will be cancelled and Bill and Art said that the trails will be better than Junes event.
Hope we see you there!

so what happened to the Burb Chris? say you towing a trailer behind the cj on 287 today?

10-02-2011, 09:53 PM
I think I saw you guys on 17 burban being towed and the CJ towing a car trailer

10-03-2011, 10:18 AM
Yeah i blew the trans going up a hill... it down shifted one to many times and that was it. They fail under extreme stress so says mechanic?? i don't know about that?? I looked into a re-built already and they are around 450 to 650 so not bad at all. I thought about towing the burb with the cj but the burb wasn't fitting on the trailer with the running boards and the trooper only gave us a little bit of time to get off "his" road.. Luckily i meet up with two really nice guys Doug and Joe with the rat patrol jeep. Doug used to be a former member and lent me a chain and his AAA to get home. Thank god for that cant thank him enough!!

Trip was amazing best trail riding tight squeezes you can think of. Had a super good time even though it rained sat nite but all day sat was fantastic. i will be going back again since i still have yet to do the entire 24 mile course. And the last 6 miles are supposed to be the hardest. I only got stuck once going up a hill tires just couldn't grab and needed more speed but couldn't back up because of tree.. dented both front fenders on tree's there are so many trees!! Chicken dinner was good just like last time and baked beans hit the spot. Jim from OK said he will start planning this trip again come January don't know if it will be two trips spring and fall or just one either way i am there. Also i won a receiver shackle hitch and didn't break anything major!!! I have a couple video's i will post soon. The road up is terrible and bent my trailer jack. Its an a-frame and anyone going i suggest removing the jack before you go up to camp.

That's cool to hear Doug still has "Rat Patrol" it was fun wheelin w/ him. Glad to hear you got home fine.

Good to hear you had a good time.

so what happened to the Burb Chris? say you towing a trailer behind the cj on 287 today?

Just catching up on the forums since Gore... I saw that too - but I thought I saw it yesterday??? I was going in the opposite direction on 287. Or was it 78 on Sunday??? - It's all a blur. And I was wondering if the flatbed went with the Jeep & trailer...

At the time I didn't realize it was a member's Jeep, but I was glad to see the caravan - it meant the worst of the hassle of getting home was behind them.
