    AMC 304 Alternator

Anyone out there got a picture or two of the way they have their alternator set up on an amc 304? Or ideas of what do use for custom brackets to get that darn thing on properly. I am about ready to chuck it off a cliff!!! Thanks...

you could look in a chilton manual, or yo could look for a cj with a 304 (they usually have tailgates that fold down) and ask to check it out. I will ask a friend. you need the alternator bracket?

I have an alternator bracket that I figure went with a 304 that came with a york compressor that I purchased from the worderful world of Ebay but I do not have the compressor, just the brackets. So the brackets are useless, unless I use them in some sort of custom set up. And the Chilton/Hayes book didnt help one bit. I'm just looking for some ideas. Thanks!

I had a 304 in my CJ5 the stock bracket sucked so I bought an aftermarket Chevy bracket from a speed shop and used spacers to make it fit. The belt did ride at a very slight angle, it wasnt perfect but it worked.

Sorry got no pics for you.

That sounds like a plan! I will just have to end up doing a custom jobby. I was worried it had to be "perfectly" placed in line with the other belts...but i guess off a few millimeters wont be the end of the world. Thanks.

I'm assuming you have done a internet search for something on the 304?
