We had to pull the drivers front caliper off in order to get the flex line on.

welded the rear caliper mounts on & painted them. Wire brushed & painted the rear hubs. Had to chamfer the inside corner of the spindle tube, to clear the flange on the axle shaft. It just rubbed when the flange was torqued down.

As it turns out-- these calipers just rub on the rims. The center-most outside edge of the caliper needs to be relieved of about 1/8" of it's material

While I was fussing over details & assembly of the rear, Dad got to prepping the engine for the turbo. As it turns out, it has a leaking oil pan gasket-- that has to come down today. The silver lining is this makes for the perfect opportunity to install the 4.0 crank girdle.

Wow. I didn't think about that. Thanks Pete.

Pulling the pan twice would have sucked.

                      • Thanks Ed. I don't know. He did make it out to Paragon with me once. It was great to work 3 days in a row with Dad-- We got alot done & realized how much more there is to do! Just gotta keep on truckin'. I keep reminding myself that just two weeks ago it was a bare frame in the driveway -- that helps keep it in perspective. Yesterday we (finally!) got to the point where the body had to go on. The unknowns were piling up & we needed answers. We put it on yesterday AM & measured/checked fitment. As it sat, the rear CV on the driveshaft was what the body was laying on. This was the final straw in making the move on dropping the rear of the driveline down farther. This will allow for better body clearance, better rear driveline angle, and a better fit all around. The T-case looks like it will just rest on the skidplate. So we took measurements, made a list, and pulled it back off. Click image for larger version

ID:	127569 The plan of attack is to lower the mounting surface for the trans/t-case on the crossmember. The crossmember's 2" thickness will be reduced by 1/2, and 3/4" of steel will be added to beef the thinned section back up. I do not want this thing to bend! Got the rear axle brakelines on & ran the brake line up the framerail. Gonna wait until after the tie-ins for the cage are welded on before running the plastic fuel, fuel return, & ARB lines through the frame. In other news-- the body got alot of attention. It is currently sitting on sawhorses in the garage. The hat channels under the front seat area were mostly removed & hammered flat, the 4 front-most body mounts got a going over(one needed rebuilding), and the rear floor area was cut out to prepare for replacement. There is more rusty/rotted steel to come out, but here is how it sits as of last night. In the end it is going to have a new tailgate hinge area, new rear floor, and new floor riser. Ideally most of it will be out of 20 gauge stainless. Click image for larger version

                          • The angle on the rear CV looks pretty close to maxed out, does it have enough movement left when that linked rear flexes? I suspect it will flex more than the old leafs did by a long shot :)

Looking awesome!! I can't wait for the turbo setup!! Keep moving!! You got a serious momentum going now!

                            • Pete, You still have no body on this thing add all that weight and the angle may reduce considerably.

                              • I tested the CV at full droop. Thankfully it does not bind. Yeah, have to wait until the body is on to get a true idea of where things are going to sit.

More bodywork yesterday. Got everything torn out & down to bare metal. Going to be getting some sheetmetal in today & start bending & fitting the new stuff. Going with stainless. :)

Had to cut 3" up the fenderwell.
