Larry, the body mount is attached to the frame head and sits under the winch and above the steering box brace . There's a lot going on there

    • maybe its a stupid question, but that never stopped me.... Why not tie that body mount into the winch mount?

            • Yesterday was all about thw steering. The system has had it's primary bleed, the tie rod & drag link threaded bungs and hydro tabs were burned in, they were all painted and installed, toe-in is set, everything is torqued, and Seals-It rod end seals were installed on all the heims. These things increase the life of heims exponentially.

Got the intake "piping" (that's what us tuners call it) all figured & fit today. Detail shots to come. I am having the cross tube TIG'd together (loosing all those couplers) & the BOV flange welded to it.

Got the passenger fender cut and was able to shave the OEM flare to fit. Very happy with how this came out, as I want to keep it OEM as possible. It is amazing how much lighter it is too. The cut edge has been folded back to retain some rigidity, like OEM.

The cut out pannel will have perforated stainless covering it. It is there to aide the power steering cooler. The drivers side is getting the same treatment, to allow for a cold air intake.

Nice on the fender cuts, keeps it looking real. Any plans to stiffen them?

                • if thats a yj frame, a 1" bod lift will keep the cj grill where it should be leaving the base of the grill to be cut around the steering box lines. the cj grill is a tad taller than a yj. i had alread put a 1" bl on m jee when i swapped grills.

                  • Thanks Dan. I am going to run the grille hoop/fender bars setup, as before. That should keep thdm pretty safe for now. Besides, I may just end up with some tube fenders down the road, so i don't want to spend much more time on them.

Jeremy, thanks for that little tid-bit. I wasn't sure if i screwed up mounting this body or not. I quad-cheked everything before droppng the grille. I figured the YJ must have a lower grille. Thanks for the confirmation. I am going ahead with cutting around the steering box. Keepin' it low!

                      • Back at it. It is going to be a marathon week next week.

Prepping the hood, fenders, grille, and tailgate for paint.

I wanted to get the front shocks figured out before i prepped the fenders, in case there was any cutting to do. I kept it simplen used the OEM upper CJ mount and an off the shelf lower pin that got welded to the axle. I know it bucks the current trends, but this setup worked flawlessly for me before.

The upper is just tacked in. Not sure what will change when the full weight is on and bumpstops are set. Looking like 4.5" of compression and 5.5 of droop. That is a 10" shock.
