Backfires could be timing or firing order...usually the two suspects.

Just took it out for the first drive around the block! Yay! The blow off valve will take a little getting use to. :-)
Having some issues with the IAC, but otherwise it is running well. The brakes work great; hand brakes too ( the rears lock up with minimal effort) . ARB's work great. Steering is very positive and crisp; it turns quickly. The shocks feel about right. Can't be happier right now.
Been busy on it. All sorts of little stuff getting done and crossed off the list:
Exhaust heat shields, front breather and ARB line, wrapped up the wiring harness, test fit the intercooler, fire extinguisher, seats are in, tightening down bolts, OBA, etc
Still have a bunch to do but most of that is hinging on getting the nose painted. Planning on starting thattomorrow.
Distributorless! Just using the cam sensor in the distributor body. Going to machine a custom cover for this.
Had to put heat shields above the entire exhaust. The heat was literally cooking the paint and turning it Brown. Part of that has to do with the high idle speed, around 1500, the IAC is causing.

Awesome! Congratulations!!!
Is the TPS set correctly? If it is showing to high of a voltage the engine idle will hang way high since the computer thinks the throttle blades are open. The IAC will usually follow the throttle blades and open as the blades open so if the TPS is set wrong the computer thinks the throttle blades are open more than they are in reality.Pete

Peter why did you choose a blow off and not a diverter

Nice on the run! Cool on the distributorless.
Yes on the heat shields (it adds up quickly). I had to add same in mine as it was melting the heels of my boots...Dan M.
